| We start by growing our portabella mushrooms over the summer months, when our mushroom kit sales business is dormant. We only select good fresh mushrooms for drying. Some are sliced and others are dried whole. They are then packaged in a re-seal able zip lock bag for your convenience. You remove the amount of mushrooms you plan to use and then close the bag and save the rest for later.
Always keep dried mushrooms in the kitchen to flavor up meals. Our dry portabella mushrooms are extremely flavorful. The drying process concentrates the flavor and when the mushrooms are used for cooking the flavors are quite intense and wonderful. Every good cook should keep an ample supply of them handy for making those planned or un-planed meals. Dried mushrooms are wonderful in dishes such as chicken cacciatore, risotto, Pasta sauces, beef stews, stroganoff, lasagnas and many more. A small amount of dried mushrooms added to each dish will add genuine flavor and turn that dish into a gourmet meal.
